Due to Covid-19 guidelines, we have not had volunteers in our school for the past 2 years. We are excited to see events and end of year trips now being booked! This means that we can have volunteers back in the school and at these events too.
If you are receiving this notice, we DO NOT have a current record check on file for you, or it has expired over the past couple of years. Please see the information below, as well as the forms you will need if you would like to volunteer.
Vulnerable Sector Checks
All volunteers at our school need to have a current Vulnerable Sector Check completed through the RCMP. These are now done online through the City of Red Deer website. HERE There is a $5.00 charge for volunteers.
Please return to the office the completed volunteer forms and the RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check. These are valid for a period of three years.
*Please note RCMP Vulnerable Sector checks must be no older than 1 month when received at the school office.
Volunteers are covered under WCB Coverage. This coverage applies to volunteers that provide service outside regular curriculum activities such as:
- volunteer coaches - after school hours
- service and playground projects e.g., playground construction
- grad activities
- fundraising events: penny carnival, hot lunch program, Shrove Tuesday,
- field trips outside the regular school curriculum e.g., overnight ski trips

To Help, To Grow and Connect Families of Holy Family School
This is a great way for everyone to be part of their child’s life and to connect with other families that attend Holy Family School. Our goal each year will be to open up and grow our parent volunteer base at our school and make it a larger community of parents who want to help make the school a great place for all of its students and staff.
The volunteer program will aim at giving everyone who wants to volunteer a fair opportunity to sign up and help. The program will add consistency to the way events are coordinated in and around the school. Everyone will have a fair chance to volunteer, help out, and enjoy their time if there are the right amount of volunteers at the specific event.
The volunteer program is open to any parent or guardian who has a student attending our school and a current criminal record check.
Please note that we have Workers' Compensation Board of Alberta (WCB) coverage for volunteers. This coverage is purchased for individuals engaged in connection with a school organized project or activity.
